College partnership offers flexible approach to learning

We are excited to announce the launch of RISE. This new partnership programme with Dundee City Council Children and Families Service features a variety of subjects designed to prepare young people for a smooth transition into further education or employment.

RISE (Raising Interpersonal Skills for Employment) offers vocational tasters, work experience and industry visits based around learners’ abilities and interests. It opens up a world of opportunities for young people in the region to explore potential careers and projects, benefitting themselves and the local community.

Current learners value the College’s supportive approach:

“It’s co-operative between the students and lecturers. It’s about what makes us feel comfortable.” Robert

“Staff are understanding. They explain what you have to do and don’t just expect you to be able to do it. They give you more help to understand so we can learn.” Charlie

“It opens up more opportunities for me to get into college.” Aaron

“Small groups are better to work in and we have our own area.” Orla

Every young person who completes RISE will be supported to apply for a college course, training or employment.

Vicky Hirst, Curriculum and Quality Leader for Access and Supported Education, says, “This great initiative will further cement the College’s strong partnerships in the region and our commitment to support young people to reach their potential and achieve bright futures.”
