PDA Health and Social Care Supervision

Course Content

This course comprises two units: Health and Social Care Supervise People & Health and Social Care Supervise the Protection of People. Individuals will demonstrate effective supervision through behaviour, communication and decision-making within the role of supervisor. They will be able to understand and apply the key principles of supervision. Individuals will promote and monitor compliance in relation to policies, procedures and best practice relevant to the assessment of risk, safe working practices and safeguarding. Individuals will show evidence of understanding and develop methods and skills used to supervise staff to assess and manage risks to health and well-being.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be in employment in a supervisory/management capacity in a social and/or health care setting for a minimum of 16 hours per week (paid or voluntary) with a minimum of 6 months’ experience. Applicants must have a sound understanding of the Health and Social Care standards, SSSC Codes of Practice, legislation, policies and procedures applicable to their work setting.

Future Prospects

Successful completion may lead to opportunities for employment in a more senior role. This qualification is recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for registration requirements.
