Students raise cash for kids

Sports students at D&A College cashed in with their course work recently when they organised a series of events resulting in a £450 cheque for local charity Cash for Kids.

As part of the HND sports coaching and development programme students split into four teams to organise a series of events involving about 150 of their fellows.

These included a Jungle Wipeout, with  dodgeball, basketball and volleyball and an imaginative jungle run obstacle course and a jungle pool with an under-water pool puzzle; The Game of Thrones event with an obstacle course with a Game of Thrones puzzle at the end, Dothraki handball, Targaryen Kickball - indoor football with added conditions, and the Siege of Winterfell; Risky Business, with volleyball, futsal, dodgeball, basketball and handball; and Summer Events, based on challenges faced by athletes who took part in Rio Olympics.

A total of £454.36 was raised through raffles, football cards, a guess the sweets in the jar and donations.

The organising students presented a cheque to Alison Carr, of Cash for Kids on Thursday, February 2.
