When it comes to sport there’s one place that dominates the history books – Olympia, the site of the Ancient Olympic Games in classical times. So what better place for Dundee and Angus College sports students to visit to help expand their knowledge?

IMG 2620
Dundee and Angus College Sport and Fitness HN students proud to be representing Scotland.

As part of its ongoing mobilities programme, the college’s International team organised, through the Erasmus+ Programme, for a group of 22 students to travel to the International Olympic Academy (IOA) in Greece. Here they will learn about Olympic ideals, the value of sport and the cultural difference in relation to sport and fitness which will contribute to the HND units on their course.

The D&A Sports Department (Gillian Bartle and Stephen McGregor) are currently putting the HND Sports Coaching students through their physical and intellectual paces alongside athletes and sports journalists from around the world.

Stephen McGregor, Head of Learning for Sport and Fitness, says:

“An educational trip is a truly positive experience that offers students the chance to enhance their time at college with something unique. For some it’s their first time away from home and travelling in itself is a new experience. It’s lovely to see students so excited about learning.”

This is the biggest and most ambitious mobility-organised trip of its kind run by D&A College to date and will be of invaluable benefit to each student’s personal development and growth for their future careers.
