A D&A plumbing apprentice was flushed with success at a national craft competition held at the Kingsway Campus

Graham Fyfe, a first-year plumbing apprentice, was pipped for top spot but ran away with the runner’s-up medal at the SNIPEF (Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation) Scottish heat of the national SkillPlumb competition.

Facing competition from eight colleges from across the country, Graham, who works for McGills, proved hot stuff in a copper pipework exercise, sheet lead bossing and welding model, as well as a written exercise.

The Dundee resident, tapped into his training as he undertook the exercises over a two-day period in a bid to win a place in the UK finals.
