This was the fourth year the event has taken place at the Arbroath Campus – and organisers were delighted to welcome so many young people keen to take part in a day of team building and practical activities.

The  P6 and P7 pupils enjoyed the chance to try their hand at mono-blocking, wallpapering, roof tiling and joinery in the college workshops.

Children from Muirfield, Timmergreens, Inverkeilor, Hayshead, and Inverbrothock Primary schools took part in the event, beginning with team-building exercises before grappling with the practical activities.

For the hands-on construction work, participants formed groups of six and were overseen by college lecturing staff.

On completion their work was judged by lecturers and a trophy and medals, sponsored by the Angus Construction Training Group, were presented to the winners, Inverkeilor, who will keep the trophy for one year.

All those who took part also received participant’s medals.

“We are grateful to our sponsors, W B S Keillor and Pert-Bruce Construction and Angus Construction Training Group” said Colin Johnson, course leader, construction.

“W B S Keillor once again supplied each pupil with their very own hi-viz jacket – made especially for primary school pupils.

“Shona Anderson from the training group awarded the annual trophy to the winners, while Pert-Bruce supplied construction plant to give the pupils a real taste of the industry.”
