Judy Murray attracts press attention during her visit to D&A College.

D&A sports department teamed up with Tennis Scotland to bring world-famous coach and mum of not one but two Number 1 ranked players on the planet – Andy and Jamie, to Dundee.

Judy heads up a programme called Tennis on the Road and, along with fellow coach, Kris Soutar, travels the length and breadth of Scotland offering sessions to tennis coaches and players.

D&A College has a group of 10 students who are about to deliver tennis coaching sessions in primary schools in Dundee, a perfect audience for Judy and Kris, who are aiming to upskill them before they go out to the schools.

As well as the students, who represent both the SVQ activity leader programme and the HND sports coaching and development course, a group of S5 pupils from Craigiebarns PS and Eastern PS are also benefiting from this unique session.

“We are delighted to have someone as passionate about the sport as Judy Murray coming to college,” said lecturer Alan Millar.

“Events like this can only be described as a real inspiration to students.”

The training sessions focussed on developing the A B Cs of sport – Agility, Balance & Coordination in a tennis setting.
