D&A College were awarded two silvers and a bronze at the College Development Network (the continuing professional development arm of College’s Scotland) annual Marketing Awards Ceremony.
D&A College staff return in triumph, from left Mike Brown, graphic designer, Vice-Principal Simon Hewitt and Richard Faint, project leader: international, who picked up three prizes at the College Development Network marketing awards ceremony.
The work done to publicise D&A Code Academy was recognised in the Customer Experience Category with a silver award.
Designed to combat a forecast digital skills shortage in Scotland, D&A Code Academy links schools, universities and employers using the college as a training conduit. To publicise the project, the college’s marketing team needed a comprehensive campaign – on a negligible budget!
Having created a coding-inspired logo which developed into invitations, programmes, e-flyers and posters a social media campaign across several platforms ensued. Inviting the then Scottish Education Secretary, Angela Constance for the launch of the Code Academy ensured a strong press presence.
“Our only expenditure was £80 on one pull-up stand,” said a college spokesperson.
D&A also won silver in the integrated marketing category for the college’s 2016 summer recruitment campaign.
A D&A internal communications strategy was also recognised taking a bronze award.
“In 2015 D&A College gained the Erasmus+ VET mobility charter allowing staff and students to travel world-wide – the only Scottish college to do so, but to keep its status we had to grow numbers year on year,” explained Richard Faint, project leader.
“To do this we developed a comprehensive internal promotional and information campaign to spread the word about the benefits of mobility including staff exchanges to Malaysia in the east and to the US in the west.”
Now in the programme has dealt with 114 students and 73 staff travelling to seven countries on study trips.
D&A staff received their awards at a ceremony in Edinburgh on Thursday, March 9.
