Stage fright wasn’t a problem for Jade Anderson when she took part in the D&A College graduation ceremony in the Caird Hall – the former student has gained HND acting and performance.

Over the summer the St Saviours’ FP travelled to Tournon-sur-Rhône in France for the annual Shakespeare Festival where she and her class-mates performed their end-of-year production, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

Attending the ceremony actually meant that the Dundee resident taking a break from rehearsing and directing a new piece to celebrate the McManus Galleries 150th anniversary in May 2017.

Jade is also working on a project to make Shakespeare more accessible to local folk, which will see the 27-year-old back on familiar territory – The Space at Kingsway.

“ ‘A Wee Bit O’ Shakespeare’ aims to take translate ‘Romeo and Juliet’ into a more local dialect, scale it down and move it from Verona to Dundee,” explained Jade.

“We are trying to strip away the more off-putting elements of the work and concentrate on the story to create a better understanding of Shakespeare.

“The project is aimed at people aged 17 and over.”

The actor also works with The Stand Easy project which uses theatre to help injured and sick war veterans.
