Electric / Hybrid Vehicle Training

Electric and Hybrid vehicles now account for around 30% of all car and van sales, and new skills are required to safely work around these vehicles.

We're offering a suite of courses to enable people to upskill in:

Level 1 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Awareness
1 DAY COURSE

This course is for non-technical staff, such as sales and parts advisors, valeters, managers and professional drivers, to gain an awareness of Electric/Hybrid vehicles to enable them to continue to work safely in their roles. It is also suitable for members of the general public looking to gain an awareness of Electric or Hybrid vehicles.

Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities
2 DAY COURSE

This qualification is for candidates who need to know the safety precautions to be taken when working on or near a high voltage hybrid. Therefore, this applies not just to automotive technicians but also, for example, emergency services staff.

Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement
2 DAY COURSE

This course is designed for people who may encounter electric/hybrid vehicles within a routine maintenance situation. It also contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely around a vehicle that may have had damage to its high energy/electrical system.

With client feedback asking for a blended Level 2 & 3 course, D&A College have implemented the Level 2 and 3 Hybrid/EV training as a combined and enhanced course that is nationally recognised by the Institute of the Motor Industry. This will allow your technicians to complete both levels in 2 days without having to split up their training.

Level 2 & 3 Hybrid and EV Enhanced Course
2 DAY COURSE

This qualification has been designed to give candidates the knowledge and skills required to work safely on Electric/Hybrid vehicles whilst carrying out diagnostic, testing and repair activities. This may include vehicles that may have or had damage to their high energy/electrical system.

As a result, learners who successfully complete this course will acquire significant core expertise, a Level 3 nationally recognised qualification and the ability to remove and replace Electric/Hybrid vehicle high voltage components.

Electrical Vehicle Charging Installations
3 DAY COURSE

This short course, intended for practicing electricians, qualifies the candidate in the design and installation of domestic and small commercial electric vehicle charging installations - essential training for electrical service companies, housing development contractors and those already working as skilled and competent electricians and/or electrical installers.

All the above courses are held several times a month and are delivered at The Skills Academy at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc in Dundee.

 

Decarbonisation of Transport

If your business is based in Dundee, you and your employees can access fully-funded Electric/Hybrid and Hydrogen vehicle training at The Skills Academy through our Green Skills Fund.

• EV Repair and Maintenance: Essential skills for mechanics and technicians.
• EV Charging Installation: Training for electricians to install charging points.
• Hydrogen Vehicle Awareness: Training to understand and safely work around hydrogen vehicles.
• Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Awareness: For drivers, valeters, sales personnel, and support staff to safely operate around EVs.
• Decarbonise Your Fleet: A tailored course for business owners and managers, in partnership with The Service Design Academy, to help you develop a plan to decarbonise your fleet of vehicles such as delivery vans, company cars, work vans, taxis etc.
