SVQ Level 4 Social Services (Children and Young People)
Course Content
This is a work-based qualification and all evidence produced must be in relation to the individual's job role and responsibility. The award is made up of eight units, four of which are mandatory. Mandatory units: Maintain Effective Communication Systems and Practice; Lead Practice for Health and Safety in the Work Setting; Take Responsibility for the Continuing Professional Development of Yourself and Others; Lead practice that Promotes the Safeguarding of Children and Young People. In addition to the above, four further units must be chosen from a number of optional units.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must be in employment for a minimum of 16 hours per week (paid/voluntary) with a minimum of 1 year's experience. You must be in a job role which will enable you to demonstrate leadership skills at this level. You must have a sound understanding of The Health and Social Care Standards, Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice, Guidance and Frameworks, legislation and work place policies and procedures. Selection for the course will be by interview.
Method of Assessment
Reflective reports and observations within an e-portfolio.
Future Prospects
Recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for registration requirements.
