SVQ Level 4 Social Services and Healthcare
Course Content
This is a work-based qualification and all evidence produced must be in relation to the individual's job role and responsibility. The award is made up of eight units, four of which are mandatory: Maintain effective communication systems and practice; Lead practice for health and safety in the work setting; Take responsibility for the continuing professional development of yourself and others: Lead practice that promotes the safeguarding of individuals. In addition to the above, four further units must be chosen from a number of optional units. The course will provide evidence of an individual's competency in all aspects of managing/supervising adult services.
Entry Requirements
For those in a management/supervisory role within a care service, employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week, with a minimum of 1 year's experience. Must have an understanding of Health and Social Care Standards, Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice, Guidance and Frameworks, Legislation and Workplace Policies & Procedures. Specifically targeted at the following: Managers of a care home service for adults; Adult day care service; Housing support service; Care at home service for adults. Selection will be by interview.
Method of Assessment
Reflective reports and observations within an e-portfolio.
Future Prospects
Recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for registration requirements.
