SVQ Level 4 Playwork

Course Content

This is a work-based qualification and all evidence produced must be in relation to the individual's job role and responsibility. The award is made up of nine units, including four mandatory units: Work with Colleagues and Other Partners to Develop an Organisational Framework for Play; Develop, Manage and Review Operational Plans for Play Provision; Establish and Develop Working Relationships; Reflect On and Develop Practice. Five further units must be chosen from a number of optional units.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be in continuous employment at a Manager/Lead Practitioner level in a playwork setting for a minimum of 16 hours per week (paid or voluntary) with a minimum of 1 year's experience. They must have a sound understanding of current guidance and frameworks, legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the work setting. Selection will be by interview.

Method of Assessment

Reflective reports and observations within an e-portfolio.

Future Prospects

Completion allows learners to prove occupational competency and advance their professional development towards the benchmark standards for childhood practice. Recognised by the SSSC for registration requirements.
