SVQ Level 3 Social Services (Children and Young People)
Course Content
This is a work-based qualification and all evidence must be in relation to the individual's job role and responsibility. The award is made up of eight units, four of which are mandatory. Mandatory units: Promote Effective Communication; Promote Health, Safety and Security in the Work Setting; Develop Your Practice Through Reflection and Learning; Promote the Safeguarding of Children and Young People. In addition to the above, four further units must be chosen from a number of optional units.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must be in continuous employment within a Children and Young People setting for a minimum of 16 hours per week (paid or voluntary) with a minimum of 6 months' experience. Individuals must have a sound understanding of current guidance and frameworks, legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the work setting. You also must be in a job role which will enable you to evidence competency at this level. Selection for the course will be by interview.
Method of Assessment
Reflective reports and observations within an e-portfolio.
Future Prospects
Recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for registration requirements.
