SVQ Level 3 Social Services and Healthcare
Course Content
This is a work-based qualification and all evidence produced must be in relation to the individual's job role and responsibility. The award is made up of eight units, four of which are mandatory: Promote effective communication; Promote health, safety and security in the work setting; Develop your practice through reflection and learning; Promote the safeguarding of individuals. Four further units must be chosen from a number of optional units. Individuals who wish to register as supervisors with SSSC must also gain an additional supervisory or management qualification at SCQF level 7 or above.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must be in employment in a social or health care setting for a minimum of 16 hours per week (paid or voluntary) with a minimum of 6 months' experience. Applicants must have a sound understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards, Scottish Social Services Codes of Practice, legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the work setting. Selection will be by interview.
Method of Assessment
Reflective reports and observations within an e-portfolio.
Future Prospects
Recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for registration requirements.
