Modern Apprenticeship in Hairdressing SVQ Level 3
Course Content
This work-based qualification builds on the learner's existing knowledge, skills and understanding in hairdressing. It will develop technical skills and prepare learners for employment as a senior stylist. Course structure allows learners to have the flexibility to advance their individual artistic abilities and designated career pathways. Units include: Provide Client Consultation Services; Creatively Cut Hair using a combination of techniques; Creatively Colour and Lighten Hair; Provide Colour Correction Services; Creatively Style and Dress Hair; Develop and Enhance your Creative Hairdressing Skills; Contribute to the Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of Promotional Activities.
Entry Requirements
Successful completion of SVQ Level 2 Hairdressing, VTCT Level 2 in Hairdressing or equivalent. Applicants with prior hairdressing experience will be considered for this course. Applicants must be employed in a salon for a minimum of 3 months prior to the commencement of the qualification. Learners are required to undertake work-based learning/assessment throughout their qualification. For applicants for whom English is not their first language then ESOL at SCQF Level 5 is required as excellent communication skills are needed.
Method of Assessment
Work-based assessment programme where skills are assessed by direct observation, online exams and open book assessments.
Future Prospects
Progression opportunities within the Hairdressing Industry. Alternatively, you may choose to develop your knowledge and skills by studying at HNC level.
