Introduction to Animal Care

Course Content

This course introduces anatomy and first aid as well as practical care for small animals. The course offers an insight into broader animal care subjects including dog training, environmental enrichment, aquarium set up, horses, rabbit care, rodents, reptiles and wildlife through a mixture of activities and topics.  

Entry Requirements

External Applicants will be required to undertake an interview including a practical activity, including small animal handling. 

 

Continuing Students: please refer to the conditions set by the department.  

 

Applicants will be required to work with a wide variety of small animals (including rodents, reptiles and birds).

 

Successful applicants will be selected based on the recruitment appointment performance and academic references including attendance.

Method of Assessment

This course is a mixture of written and practical assessments in addition to some short assignments.
