SWAP Access to Nursing

Course Content

This course is designed to prepare you to enter higher education. It covers a variety of Higher level subjects comprising 18 credits (care-related units and core skills) and the opportunity to experience and learn practical skills.

Entry Requirements

Four National 5s in academic subjects (including English) at C pass or above, or equivalent, or successful completion of a Level 5 Care course, or successful completion of SVQ Level 2 or 3 Care course.

Selection will be made on a satisfactory personal statement and qualifications, and a written exercise.

All applicants will be considered on an individual basis.

Method of Assessment

Assessment methods include class activities, written reports, essays and an exam.

Future Prospects

Completion of all units, a good attendance record and a positive reference may allow learners to progress to higher education such as HNC Healthcare Practice or HNC Social Services.

Please note for SWAP learners this course may lead to degree courses in adult, mental health and learning disability nursing or Children's Nursing at RGU.

This course will not lead to Midwifery.
