Certificate In Coaching Sport and Fitness

Course Content

This course includes SQA units which will be delivered in a range of areas in sports performance and participation, outdoor pursuits (campus specific), fitness, coaching and officiating with communication and meta-skills integrated within units. Learners will have the opportunity to work with a host of external partners through placement opportunities within the course and gain other qualifications such as SCUK/ NGB Awards, NPLQ, First Aid and Level 2 Gym Instructor.

Entry Requirements

A range of National 4 or National 5 Grades (PE/Sport; English; Science).

Applicants should mention their interests in sports and fitness, as well as their career goals, in their personal statement. Industry qualifications and experience will also be taken into account.

The interview process includes a one-on-one interview, a practical assessment, and a reference may also be required. It is mandatory for students to have PVG Scheme Membership for placement.

Method of Assessment

Variety of on-going assessments: practical performance assessment & coaching delivery, placement, written assignments, presentations & examinations.

Future Prospects

Successful completion of this course may lead to Advanced Certificate in Coaching Sport and Fitness, HNC Sport Coaching and Development, HNC Physical Activity and Health or employment in the sport and fitness industry.
