Certificate in Child, Health and Social Care

Course Content

This course will enable you to study key subjects across child, health and social care areas such as: Human Development and Behaviour, Play In Early Learning and Childcare and Healthy Eating in Care Setting. Essential Skills in Communication, IT and Numeracy are also included.


You are encouraged to participate in volunteering activities to relate theory to practice and develop your caring skills. There will also be experiential opportunities within this course.

Entry Requirements

Three National 4s in academic subjects (or equivalent) or successful completion of a relevant National 4 Certificate course. Adult returners without formal qualifications but who have work or volunteering experience are also welcome.

 

Selection is based on: a personal statement, qualifications and/or experience and an invitation to a group information session where you will undertake a small practical team and written task.

Method of Assessment

Assessments include practical demonstrations, project work, presentations, report writing, and short answer questions.

Future Prospects

May lead onto a relevant Level 6 course in care. Learners may wish to seek employment in assistant roles across a wide variety in the care sector.
