Course Content

This new course offers an exciting blend of hands-on animal care training and scientific study, perfect for those wanting to start a career in animal care or biology. Students will have the unique opportunity to study in two different learning environments. One day each week will be spent at our newly refurbished Animal Care department in Arbroath, where you’ll gain practical experience handling and caring for animals. This state-of-the-art facility provides fantastic surroundings to explore topics like animal welfare, disease control, and feeding and nutrition.

Entry Requirements

National 5 biology and maths are required.

Method of Assessment

A range of closed-book assignments, coursework assignments, and practical activities will all be used to assess. All units are individually assessed, and all units are required to complete the full course.

Future Prospects

Upon completing the course, you can progress to HNC Animal Care or HNC Applied Science, opening up career opportunities.
