Access to Animal Care (Part 1)

Course Content

This course will allow you to become familiar with working with animals and developing employability skills. Learners will gain experience working with a range of small animals which might include rabbits, rodents, reptiles and birds. There is also a project based on planning, developing and maintaining animal environments.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to have a keen interest in the care and handling of animals and be able to demonstrate the ability to work at SCQF level 3 (reading, writing & numeracy). Applicants will be required to attend a recruitment appointment including a practical activity.

Method of Assessment

This course is very practical and is assessed through carrying out practical tasks. The theory element of the course is assessed throughout the year.

Future Prospects

This course sets a foundation for further study. We encourage applications from successful learners to progress onto Access to Animal Care (Part 2).
