Funding for Part-Time Courses
Some students may qualify for assistance with tuition fees if they are studying part-time.
This may be a fee waiver if you are on a low income or receive benefits or Part-Time Fee Grant from SAAS.
Fee Waiver
The College may offer a fee waiver if you receive certain benefits or are on a low income. You must also meet the residency criteria.

SAAS Part-time Fee Grant
You must be studying a part-time course at SCQF level 7 and above and any support available will depend on how many credits you are studying.
To be eligible you must be:
- Studying part-time HNC/HND/PDA/Degree
- Studying between 30 – 119 SCQF credits
- Have an income below £25,000
- Meet the residency criteria
- Not accessing other funding
How to apply for SAAS Part-Time Fee Grant
You should apply as early as possible to ensure your tuition fee funding is in place at the start date of your course.
The application closing date for academic session 2024/25 is 31 March 2025.
You must apply for Part-time Fee Grant (PTFG) for each year of your course.

EMA
EMA is now available to students studying on a part-time course at non-advanced level (under HNC level). To be eligible you must meet the residency required and household income limits below.
If you are under 18 years old at the official start date of your course, you may be considered for an EMA. An EMA is not a loan.
EMA is only available once you have reached your statutory school leaving date. Students who are 16 between 1 October 2024 and 28 February 2025 will not be eligible until January 2025 provided you are still attending your course in January 2025.
The EMA is based on your household income. In addition to EMA, all students under 18 years may receive help with travel expenses and essential course materials as these as not means-tested against household income but you must meet the residency criteria and for travel, you must live at least 2 miles from the campus you will be studying at.
EMA is not paid during the holiday periods.
You must not be receiving an EMA from any other college or school.
If you turn 18 years old during your course you will remain on EMA.

How to apply for Part-Time EMA
Once you have accepted your conditional or unconditional place and funding is open for session 2024/25 you should contact heretohelp@dundeeandangus.ac.uk to request a paper application form. You will have to complete the paper application and submit it with the required documentation.
