Modern Apprenticeship in Hospitality (SVQ in Food and Beverage Service at SCQF Level 5)

Course Content

This Skills Development Scotland funded Modern Apprenticeship, offers those aged over 16 paid employment combined with the opportunity to gain a national qualification in hospitality. The delivery is facilitated at college one day a week in our fully equipped restaurant where learners are involved in providing a plated lunch service. Over 12 months learners will develop skills within the hospitality industry covering preparing, providing and clearing areas for food and beverage service. Units including: Health and Safety in Hospitality; Work Effectively as part of a Hospitality Team; Impact of Personal Behaviour; Maintain Food Safety in a Hospitality Environment; and other specialist skills such as Barista. 

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be employed in a suitable post within the hospitality sector and hold relevant qualifications at SCQF level 4. Aged 16-19 fully funded apprenticeship. Aged 19 and above are partially funded (employer contribution may be required). 

Method of Assessment

Ongoing internal observations, portfolio of evidence, paper based and online questions. 

Future Prospects

Further study: National Certificate in Hospitality Operations at SCQF Level 6 or Modern Apprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership at SCQF Level 7.
