Introduction to Art & Design
Course Content
This introductory-level course is suitable for those who wish to learn more about Art and Design. It will engage you in a range of exciting and creative projects, allowing you to develop confidence and knowledge and build a portfolio that demonstrates a broad range of methods, skills and processes. Friendly and encouraging staff will guide you through a range of projects and activities that include: sketchbook development, drawing methods, 3D work, mixed media, painting, print-making techniques and design craft. On successful completion of this course, you will be encouraged to explore further pathways within the Art and Design department.
Entry Requirements
Minimum of 2 relevant National 4/equivalent qualifications desired, preferred English and Art/Design. At the interview, you must bring examples of work such as drawings/designs/photography. Digital portfolio submissions are also accepted. Mature candidates without formal qualifications will be considered on the presentation of a portfolio. If you do not meet the academic requirements but have an interest in Art and Design, we will consider your application. Please give full details in your personal statement. Your personal statement is key to supporting a successful application.
Method of Assessment
Continuous internal/external assessment with the focus on portfolio production and submission.
Future Prospects
Successful completion of this programme, including high levels of attendance and engagement, can lead to progression onto our Level 6 Certificate courses.
