HND Architectural Technology (Year 2)

Course Content

This course provides the essential skills for the role of Architectural Technician. The technical and scientific side of design is explored plus the full architectural process from sketching and computer aided design to material specification and the very latest construction technologies. This course will enable learners to achieve professional body recognition in particular, but not exclusively, from the Chartered Institute of Building.


A flexible learning programme of study is available for students to attend college while employed within a related discipline. Learners are required to be employed within a related discipline with relevant industry experience. Approval from your employer is required.

Entry Requirements

HNC in Built Environment, Architectural Technology or Construction Management. Learners who gain entry with this qualification may require a bespoke infill programme, so each application will be considered on an individual basis. 


Applicants whose first language is not English should have a minimum ESOL Higher.


Applicants who do not meet these criteria, but have relevant industry-related experience, will be considered at the discretion of the Curriculum and Quality Leader.

Method of Assessment

Submission of written reports, ongoing course assessment and a graded unit project.

Future Prospects

This course allows progression to degree level courses through established articulation agreements with partner universities. Employment with architects, surveyors, interior designers and architectural technologists, specialist design/build contractors, local authorities and larger organisations to provide in-house design/drafting services.
