HNC Applied Sciences
Course Content
This course covers a wide range of chemistry and biology theoretical aspects relevant to future study or a career in life sciences. In addition to developing knowledge in life sciences, this course also offers the opportunity to develop practical and research skills relevant to working within the industry. It provides experience in modern laboratory techniques such as PCR and gel electrophoresis. The course is excellent preparation for progression towards further study at university or employment.
Entry Requirements
At least two SQA passes at Higher level C or above, one of which should be Chemistry or Higher Human Biology. Maths at National 5 level is also required. Other qualifications may be considered.
Method of Assessment
End of unit assessment or by the completion of course work. There will be continual assessment throughout the year and no end of course assessment.
Future Prospects
Successful completion of this course would allow entry into HND Applied Biological Sciences programmes or progression to study science at university.
