Advanced Certificate in Social Sciences
Course Content
This level 6 course offers preparation for HNC Social Sciences and possible progression to workplaces and/or other level 7 courses. Subjects may include: Research, Social Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, History, Criminology, Geography, Modern Studies, Counselling, Volunteering, Analysing Sources and Texts, Employability/Study/Exam Skills, Guidance and Graded Exam.
Internal progression to HNC level study at D&A will depend on successful completion of all units, performance, attendance and staff reference.
Entry Requirements
Three National 5 qualifications in appropriate subjects or appropriate Level 5 group award with all course credits achieved or two National 5 qualifications plus a relevant NPA. Relevant life/work experience may be considered. Further selection on personal statement. For current/prior learners attendance record/previous performance is considered.
Relevant National 5 qualifications include, but are not limited to, English, History, Modern Studies, Politics, Geography, RMPS, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Classical Studies, Media Studies, Human Biology.
Method of Assessment
Open and closed book assessments in a variety of formats.
Future Prospects
Potential progression to HNC Social Sciences, further study at related HN level or volunteering/employment.
