Certificate in Early Education and Childcare
Course Content
This course will enable you to study a range of subjects such as Play in Early Learning & Childcare, Care & Feeding of Children & Young People, Development & Wellbeing of Children & Young People and Supporting Children with Additional Support Needs. Essential skills in Numeracy, Communication and IT are also included. This will include a mixture of indoor and outdoor learning (both face-to-face and remote delivery) You are encouraged to participate in volunteering activities to relate theory to practice and develop your caring skills.
Entry Requirements
Three National 4s in academic subjects (or equivalent) or successful completion of a relevant National 4 Certificate course. Adult returners without formal qualifications but who have work or volunteering experience are also welcome.
Selection is based on: a personal statement, qualifications and/or experience and an invitation to a group information session where you will undertake a small practical team and written task.
Method of Assessment
Assessments include practical demonstrations, project work, presentations, report writing and short answer questions.
Future Prospects
May lead onto a relevant Level 6 course in care. Learners may wish to seek employment as a childcare assistant, playgroup assistant, nursery assistant or after-school club assistant.
