Course Content

This course is designed for those who want to instruct participants in indoor group cycling. It provides evidence of competence in instructing and has been developed to reflect modern practices in instructing indoor group cycling. Course includes -

  • Setting up bikes
  • Cycling technique
  • Cycling movements
  • Components of an indoor group cycling class
  • Components of fitness
  • Cycling Anatomy, Physiology & Energy systems
  • Class types
  • Planning classes
  • Instructing a class
  • Bike maintenance


The class is run over 8 hours over 1 day (including assessment). The D&A Award in Instructing Indoor Group Cycling is equivalent to a level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework, but does not provide access on to the Register.

Entry Requirements

Candidates should have either completed the SVQ Level 2 Instructing Exercise and Fitness or have the equivalent experience prior to commencing this course.
