Learner and Community Engagement

Our aim is to make your time at college fun, memorable and successful, by creating opportunities for you to be involved in a whole range of activities and events that really promote and celebrate your wider achievements!

The Learner and Community Engagement Team (LACE) is delighted to support the wider learning and development of all D&A students:

  • We deliver social education sessions from teambuilding and mindsets to respect and conflict resolution, to support retention and class engagement.
  • We have a large portfolio of community partners who offer fantastic citizenship workshops from hate crime and cyber safety to money management, all supporting our college Respect campaign.
  • We work with the Third Sector to source and secure volunteering for students, to help them develop essential work-ready skills.
  • We offer a range of wellbeing opportunities, from physical sports classes to outward-bound experiences, to support the overall wellness and happiness of our students

From in-class delivery to extracurricular activity, we are here to help you make the most of your college experience.

We can make you shine to local employers and help you develop skills for learning, life and work through our D&A Attributes programme; a unique opportunity only open to D&A students to build recognised skills through a mixture of wider achievement opportunities.

We can help you to support your fellow learners, to contribute to your local community, and to be a part of college life by getting involved in:

  • Projects and events with your fellow students
  • Volunteering
  • Citizenship Projects
  • Employer Engagement and Career Management Skills development
  • Whole-college events
  • Curriculum engagement

You can also get involved with our fantastic student wellbeing programme. From trekking with alpacas to learning about the benefits of sleep, positive wellbeing can really support your time as a student at D&A.
