College Life

When you arrive you will be invited to attend an induction day for international students.

At induction you will be given information on registration with a doctor and dentist, banking, buses and student services and you will meet members of College staff.

Dundee and Angus College has dedicated Help Points at each campus, with staff who can provide advice and support to help all students who have problems to make informed decisions and cope with challenges or difficulties.

There is also a team of Student Advisers based in the Advice Centres in each campus offering specialist advice and information and counselling on a range of matters.

Dundee and Angus College has three campuses Arbroath, Gardyne and Kingsway offering a range of exciting activities and events to get involved with. All campuses offer excellent learning environments with up-to-date facilities.  The campuses are easily accessible by bus and have car parking. 

Learner Engagement

The work of the Learner Engagement Team should complement and add value to the approaches taken by academic and support staff. We are committed to helping students engage with College life in the way that is best for each individual. We can provide learners with a wide range of engagement activities and opportunities, designed to enhance, enrich and influence the learner experience. Some of the activities we offer include:

  • Fresher’s Fayre/social opportunities
  • Curriculum engagement – sessions delivered within classes Learner Stances, respect sessions, Motivate Me sessions, Achieve@D&A
  • Events – Respect week, Health & Wellbeing, Fresher’s Fayre
  • Volunteers – Specific and focused volunteering opportunities
Libraries

All campuses have Libraries/Learning Hubs with books specialising in the subjects taught at that campus and also provide video viewing resources, CD-ROM and IT facilities. We have a wide selection of books and magazines related to all subject areas taught within the College and our extensive study skills sections might be a good place to start your studies. The libraries/learning hubs contain PCs for research and study, study tables for group and individual work and a number of individual, quiet study booths. We have for sale a wide range of stationery items, have printing and photocopying facilities and offer help and advice on finding information, referencing and much more.

Catering

There are diners in each campus for hot/cold meals and snacks. KC and 56 are our cafés and also training hospitality classrooms that are open to students, staff and members of the public. Tea/coffee is available to take-away all day. We also have College shops that sell drinks, snacks, confectionery and cards  and vending machines are available all day and evening to provide drinks and confectionery.

Hair and Beauty

If you'd like some pampering, try Inspire our hair and beauty salons in our campuses, offering clients a wide range of hair and beauty treatments carried out using professional quality products and equipment. We aim to provide our students with the experience and skills which will prepare them for a career in the hair and beauty industry, ensuring that all treatments are carried out professionally and to the highest standards. We also often require models for the highly practical Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy courses - please contact us for further details. 

National Entitlement Card

As a student at D&A College you will receive a personalised smartcard that will allow a variety of services, discounts and special offers.

Students' Association

The Association organises a number of events and activities through the year including:

D&A College Sports Union

Offers Competitive Sport, Recreational Sport, Health and Wellbeing, Volunteering, CPD and Training for all members.
