Course Content

This is a work-based qualification used to assess the competence, knowledge, and understanding of apprentices, technicians, and employees in various engineering sectors and craft areas. These craft areas include manual machining, CNC machining, maintenance operations, mechanical fitting, etc.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be employed as apprentices, technicians, or current craftspersons within the engineering sector and supported by their employer to pursue the qualification.

National 5 Communications is required.

Method of Assessment

Work-based observations by specialist college assessors and compilation of a portfolio of evidence.

Future Prospects

Work as a qualified and competent machinist, CNC operator, mechanical fitter, maintenance operative within a wide variety of engineering sectors.
