Introduction to Beauty Therapy (VTCT Level 1 Diploma)

Course Content

You will learn basic skills in a range of areas, which will prepare you well for potential progression into Level 2 beauty.

You will study basic manicure and pedicure techniques, skin care treatments, basic day make-up application, nail art, and more. You will enhance your skills in client care and health and safety procedures and develop skills in working within a salon.

Entry Requirements

To apply for this course you must have a keen interest in Beauty Therapy. Previous attainment of a Level 1 part-time qualification (Senior Phase SCQF 4) in Beauty Therapy and/or relevant industry experience is desirable. Two National 4, NPAs or equivalent qualifications are required. A satisfactory reference may be required, a good level of ICT competency and for applicants where English is not your first language then ESOL at SCQF Level 5 is required as excellent communication skills are needed. You may be invited to a group information session.

Method of Assessment

Assignments and exams will take place throughout the course, and skills are assessed by direct observation. Research and self-study will also be required to successfully complete this course. You will be observed carrying out services on each other, family and friends. Some research and assignments will be required to gain the knowledge needed. 

Future Prospects

Progression onto VTCT level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies.
