Course Content
This course is perfect for those motivated to start a career in hairdressing. It provides the essential skills and knowledge needed to progress to Level 2 in Hairdressing.
You’ll learn about the hairdressing industry and various techniques and skills, including using social media, which will help you become better prepared for your career.
Training at D&A Hair School will boost your confidence and enhance your job prospects, with guidance from experienced instructors in exceptional facilities and hands-on experience with clients using professional products.
The course is held on campus, combining practical classes, project work, online exams and some home study, with classes 2-3 days a week.
Entry Requirements
Previous attainment of a Level 1 part-time qualification (Senior Phase SCQF 4) in Hairdressing, Barbering and or Beauty Therapy and/or relevant industry experience is desirable. Two National 4, NPA or equivalent qualifications are required. A satisfactory reference may be required. A good level of ICT competency and for applicants where English is not your first language then ESOL at SCQF Level 5 is required as excellent communication skills are needed. You may be invited to a group information session.
Method of Assessment
Skills are assessed by direct observation on clients, family and friends. You will be required to do research and complete assignments and e-learning modules to gain the knowledge required to pass this course. You will have some online exams, and study will be needed.
Future Prospects
Further study onto a Level 2 Hairdressing or Barbering programme. Gaining employment within a salon as an assistant to develop your skills. Opportunity to study MA SVQ Level 2 within a salon to continue your studies.
