Course Content
This course is for learners who want to work safely on hydrogen‑fuelled vehicles. It covers how hydrogen vehicle systems operate, the hazards associated with hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles, and how to reduce risks to yourself and others during routine maintenance. Learners will also understand how to safely prepare a hydrogen vehicle before carrying out maintenance work.
You will develop practical skills in:
- Working safely on hydrogen‑fuelled vehicles
- Safely isolating hydrogen systems
- Removing, testing, and refitting hydrogen system components
- Reinstating hydrogen systems after repair safely and correctly
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have relevant vehicle maintenance and repair skills, or hold a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in a related area. Learners must also have at least a Level 2 qualification in electric or hybrid vehicle technologies.
Method of Assessment
Practical assessment and online invigilated examination.
Future Prospects
This qualification is a recognised entry route to IMI TechSafe status. It enables you to join the IMI Professional Register, demonstrating to employers and the wider automotive industry that you are competent in your role and up to date with the latest technologies and industry knowledge.
