HND Computing: Software Development (Year 1)

Course Content

Driven by an innovative, artificially intelligent world, and a growing digital economy, Software Developers are in demand in the Technology Sector. The HND Computing Software Development course will provide you with a foundation in a range of software development and computing disciplines to prepare you for progression to HND, University or work within Software Development. You will gain knowledge and skills in areas related to Software Engineering, Design Concepts, Mobile Application Development, Software Development, Database Systems, Web Authoring and Data Analysis which are highly valued within the industry. This is a full-time course delivered on campus which includes classes, practical tutorials, project work and self-study sessions.

Entry Requirements

Four relevant National 5 or equivalent at level A/B plus 1 Higher in a STEM subject (C or above).

or

Foundation Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media or IT Software Development. 

or

Progression from SCQF level 5/6 Computing college course passing all credits and B grade achieved in Project.

or

Mature applicants with relevant experience are assessed individually. 


Completion of a strong personal statement explaining your interest in the course. You may be invited for an interview to make sure this is the right course for you. All applicants may also be asked to provide a reference.

Method of Assessment

Internal unit assessments are continuous throughout the course with a final exam in year 1.
