HNC Engineering Mechanical
Course Content
This course is suitable for learners who wish to develop their skills and knowledge to progress their career within a range of engineering sectors including: aviation; defence; medical engineering; engineering management; manufacturing; and the automotive industry. Subjects covered include: Maths; Communications; Dynamics; Thermofluids; Computer Aided Draughting and Materials.
Entry Requirements
Progressing students: relevant SCQF Level 6 NC/NQ course in an engineering discipline. Selection will be based on previous course outcomes and personal statements.
New applicants: Qualifications required are two Highers (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, preferably English, Mathematics or Physics or a relevant SCQF Level 6 NC/NQ course in an engineering discipline or a Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering. Qualifications equivalent to the above from an international educational body.
Applicants who do not meet the criteria but have relevant work/industry experience will be required to complete an engineering aptitude test on campus.
Method of Assessment
Submission of written reports, ongoing course assessment and a graded unit project.
Future Prospects
Progression onto a higher-level engineering specific course and/or employment opportunities in the engineering/renewable/energy industries with the opportunity to study part-time up to degree level.
