HNC Electrical Engineering

Course Content

This course provides learners with a broad range of integrated competencies across electrical engineering disciplines. The course is based on a systems approach and will provide a thorough understanding of the relevant electrical and electronic knowledge to progress to a higher level. The award consists of three mandatory and nine optional units.

 

A part-time/flexible programme is available for applicants employed within the industry with relevant experience at the discretion of the Curriculum and Quality Leader.

Entry Requirements

One Higher (or equivalent) at grade C or above from Physics, Technological Studies or Maths, and at least three National 5 subjects (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths; Physics/Technological Studies and English. National Certificate Group Award in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering (level 6 awards). 

 

Applicants maybe required to attend an interview.

 

Applicants whose first language is not English should have a minimum ESOL Higher for HNC/D courses.


Method of Assessment

A variety of methods will be used including practical and theory-based assessments.

Future Prospects

Progression onto a higher-level engineering specific course and/or employment in the electrical installations/renewables/energy industries with the opportunity to study up to degree level.
