SWAP Access to Nursing
Course Content
This course is designed to prepare you to enter higher education. It covers a variety of Higher level subjects comprising 18 credits (care-related units and core skills) and the opportunity to experience and learn practical skills.

Entry Requirements
A SWAP programme does not require you to have formal qualifications (although these are preferable). This could be the course for you if:
- You don't have any qualifications above SCQF level 5 (Standard Grade, Int 2, GCSE or equivalent) and have been out of full-time education for at least 3 years;
- OR you already have qualifications at SCQF level 6 or higher (Highers, A Levels, HN) and have been out of full-time education for at least 5 years;
Selection will be made based on a satisfactory personal statement and qualifications, and a written exercise.
All applicants will be considered individually.
Method of Assessment
Assessment methods include class activities, written reports, essays and an exam.
Future Prospects
Completion of all units, a good attendance record and a positive reference may allow learners to progress to higher education such as HNC Healthcare Practice or HNC Social Services.
Please note for SWAP learners this course may lead to degree courses in adult, mental health and learning disability nursing or Children's Nursing at RGU.
This course will not lead to Midwifery.
