Certificate in Social Sciences
Course Content
This course is suited to those returning to education without previous relevant qualifications or those wishing to develop a basic understanding of the Social Sciences in order to progress to Advanced Certificate in Social Sciences or other level 6 courses. Subjects may include: Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, History, Social Anthropology, Media Research Methods, Modern Studies, Environmental Science, Coping Strategies, Writing skills, Numeracy and Digital ICT skills.
Internal progression to Advanced Certificate/Level 6 study at D&A will depend on the successful completion of all units, performance, attendance and staff reference.
Entry Requirements
Selection will be based on personal statement, levelling exercise and interview. For current/prior learners attendance and previous performance will also be considered.
Method of Assessment
Open book assessments, presentations, reports, co-operative learning, portfolios, visual material and peer assessment.
Future Prospects
Successful completion of this course would allow progression to Advanced Certificate in Social Sciences (level 6) or other college courses.
