Pre-Apprenticeship Plumbing Skills

Course Content

This course covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for preparing to work in the plumbing and heating industry. The following units are all compulsory: Health and Safety; Electrical Principles; Scientific Principles; Plumbing Processes; Cold Water Systems; Hot Water Systems; Sanitation; Central Heating Systems; and Drainage Systems.

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for applicants aged 16 years old or over. Progression from relevant Access programmes; Multi-Skilled programmes; Construction programmes; Engineering programmes or three pass grades at National 4/5. Applicants will also be required to attend an interview which will include a diagnostic test.

Method of Assessment

A variety of methods will be used including practical and theory-based assessments.

Future Prospects

Progression onto Certificate Award in Construction Technology, NC Electrical Engineering or Plumbing apprenticeships.
