Young Innovators Take on LEGO League Challenge at D&A College

We were delighted to once again host the FIRST LEGO League UK and Ireland Challenge, welcoming teams from 17 schools across Scotland for a day filled with creativity, collaboration and competition.

The LEGO® League is a global STEM programme for young people aged 9–16, designed to spark curiosity around real-world challenges while developing key skills for the future. In the months leading up to the event, each team worked together to research a themed topic, before designing, building and pre-programming their very own LEGO® robot.

On the day, all that hard work came to life. Teams put their robots through a series of fast-paced challenges, testing their precision, programming and problem-solving skills under pressure. The competition tables were buzzing with excitement as participants made quick adjustments, cheered each other on and celebrated every success.

But the challenge goes far beyond robotics. Teams were also judged on their innovation, robot design, teamwork, sportsmanship and presentation skills. Judges were hugely impressed by the level of creativity, confidence and collaboration on display, making for some very tough decisions when it came to awarding prizes.

Events like this highlight just how exciting and rewarding learning can be, helping to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals.

A huge congratulations to all the teams who took part - your hard work, creativity and teamwork truly made it a day to remember.
