Strong Performances from Students at CITB Skill Build Qualifier
Dundee & Angus College has once again proudly hosted the Regional Scottish Qualifier for CITB SkillBuild, welcoming students from across Scotland to our Kingsway and Arbroath campuses to compete across a range of construction disciplines.
SkillBuild is the UK’s largest multi-trade competition for construction trainees and apprentices, delivered by CITB. The competition is structured around a series of regional heats held across the country, culminating in a National Final in November. Throughout the competition, students are assessed on their technical ability, as well as their time management, character and commitment.
This year’s event brought together participants from around 20 colleges and employers, who competed head-to-head in carpentry, joinery, painting and decorating, bricklaying, plastering, and roof slating and tiling. The competition provided an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their technical ability, with a consistently high standard of skill, dedication and craftsmanship on display throughout.
We are delighted to celebrate the success of our own students, who achieved outstanding results across the following categories:
Joinery
1st - Miles Hughes
2nd - Drew McLaggan
Carpentry
2nd - Liam Gallacher
3rd - Adam Lockhart
Painting & Decorating
3rd - Caitlin Vannet
This competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence and develop their skills. We would like to congratulate all participants for their efforts this year and now look forward to hearing whether our students progress to the national finals.
