Dundee & Angus College Shortlisted for Five Awards at the CDN Awards 2024

Dundee & Angus College has been shortlisted for five awards at the 2024 College Development Network College Awards, the annual celebration of innovation taking place in colleges across the country.

The Awards recognise the talent, skills and achievements of colleges, their staff and their learners and this year holds particular significance as it marks the 25th anniversary.  A milestone that highlights the enduring commitment to recognising the remarkable achievements of the college sector and this year was no exception with CDN receiving an incredible 163 entries from across Scotland’s colleges (the most ever).

In the College Community Learning category, Dundee & Angus has been recognised for its Linlathen Community project, an innovative partnership with the Scottish Government Child Poverty Pathfinder and Linlathen Fairness Commission.  The College has helped redefine educational pathways in one of Dundee’s most challenged areas and has achieved impressive outcomes in one of the UK’s most deprived communities.

In the Employer Connections category, the College has achieved two shortlist places. The first highlights a groundbreaking partnership that has transformed nutritional education in the care sector. Our partnership with Balhousie Care Group is setting new standards in care through bespoke culinary training. The second nomination celebrates our partnership with NHS Tayside, a DFN Project SEARCH programme that has created employment pathways for young adults with learning disabilities or autism.  This project is further addressing skills shortages within NHS Tayside and achieving a 100% success rate in supporting participants into sustained employment.

Dundee & Angus has also been shortlisted in the Inclusive College category for our amazing work to create and be recognised as a College of Sanctuary. This project has seen the College support more than 250 refugees and asylum seekers through tailored education and support, making Dundee & Angus Scotland’s first and only College of Sanctuary.

Finally, in the Skills Development category, the Multiply initiative has been recognised for revolutionising maths education through the Maths Homework Club that brings parents and children together to boost their numeracy skills in a supportive, community-focused environment.

Steve Taylor, Vice Principal of Dundee & Angus College, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for an incredible five CDN Awards this year. These nominations reflect the hard work and dedication of all of the staff involved in creating opportunities and working with partners to deliver a positive impact in our community. It is fantastic to see the mix of community, business, skills and support activity all recognised by the award judges”.

The winners will be announced at the CDN College Awards 2024 ceremony in November.
