Dundee and Angus College Students Showcase Creativity at Annual Game Jam
Last week, teams of Dundee and Angus College Computing students went head-to-head in our annual Game Jam, spending two action-packed days designing and building their own video game.
Students from across the department - including Games Development, Cyber Security and Esports - spent two days programming, coding, animating and designing as they competed for the Best Overall Game award. For many, this was their first time creating a game, offering a great opportunity to put their knowledge, skills and creativity to the test.
On day two, teams pitched their completed games to a panel of judges. This year’s panel included industry professionals from Opera and Outplay Entertainment Ltd, Dundee and Angus College Student President and former students now working at Team Terrible and Monzo Bank. Their expert feedback gave students valuable, real-world insight into game development.
After careful deliberation considering design cohesion, gameplay mechanics, user experience, future potential and how well each game reflected this year’s theme ‘I See You’, the team ‘Unsupervised Children’ were awarded Best Overall Game. Additional awards were also presented to runners-up in the Most Promising Game, Graphics and Design and Gameplay categories.
One of this year’s judges, Jonathan Rodger, an industry professional and Dundee and Angus College alumnus who took part in the very first Game Jam said, “I know just how important it is to come together for these opportunities. It is a valuable experience to test your skills, working against the clock and simulates the actual games development environment.”
Congratulations to our 2026 winners and runners-up, well done to all who took part, and a big thank you to the judges whose support and feedback enhanced our students’ experience.
