D&A College Students Deliver Scottish Esports League Success

On Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 September, Dundee and Angus College hosted eRena Sports’ Scottish Esports League 6 Live Finals at our cutting-edge Esports Studios.

Teams from across the UK travelled up to Dundee and battled it out at Rocket League, League of Legends and Counter Strike 2, with £1000 prizes for each winning team courtesy of eRena Sports.

The tournament champions included:
- Chiefs Rat Tail in Rocket League
- Brod & Friends in League of Legends
- Square Sausages in Counter-Strike 2

Our third-year esports students played crucial roles in the running of the event, stepping up as event managers, casters, observers, producers and event runners – which not only gave them the incredible opportunity to gain real-world training, but also industry credibility for their future careers in esports.

The event, which was streamed online to around 4,000 viewers, was also the first of its kind, making it Scotland’s first UK-wide esports tournament!

Sean Anderson, Operations Director at eRena Sports said “It was a great opportunity and experience to bring the Scottish Esports League back to Scotland and we couldn't have done it without the support from D&A College and the passion from their students. From the initial conversations around bringing this event back, it was clear that everyone at D&A College were fully invested in making this event the best it could be!

Each and every one of the students involved put their all into the event and ensured that their specific role was carried out to the very best of their ability. The students were keen to learn, focused, professional and had a keen eye for detail during production.

eRena Sports are incredibly excited to continue working with D&A College on future events and we cannot wait to see what this partnership brings in the future!”

The event was also supported by external Caster, Mark of G, who added  "SEL6 was a great event overall and as an external Caster coming into it, to work alongside the students was great. I was able to pass on my knowledge of casting to the student casters to help improve their casts and they were great! They had amazing game knowledge for their retrospective games!

The students worked tirelessly over the weekend to make it the best they could. Whether it was running the stream, observing or doing the admin - they did a stand out job. Without them, the event would have been tough to keep on track and run smoothly.”

This collaboration highlights D&A College’s dedication to giving students real-world, industry-standard experience while equipping them to become the next wave of esports professionals.
