Course Content
Overview:
This nationally recognised qualification equips learners with the practical skills and knowledge required for a career in carpentry and joinery within the construction industry. It combines hands-on training with essential health and safety practices, employability skills, and core academic development.

All units within the course must be achieved to gain certification.
Entry Requirements
Successful completion of Gateway to Trade Skills (Construction) at SCQF Level 4 course or two passes at National 5 (or equivalent) one NAT 5 to be in English or Maths or relevant industry experience.
All applicants will require a satisfactory interview and includes a diagnostic test with a score of 40% or above required.
Method of Assessment
Practical based assessments and theoretical knowledge-based assessments both open and closed book at SCQF level 5.
Future Prospects
On successful completion, learners can progress to:
- Apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery
- Advanced Carpentry and Joinery qualifications
- Construction-related apprenticeships
- Employment in roles such as site carpenter, bench joiner, or maintenance joiner
- Progression to SCQF Level 6 construction courses.
- Entry-level roles with construction contractors.
