Course Content
This course will equip you with a broad range of mechanical and manufacturing skills, preparing you to work confidently across the diverse engineering industry. It combines practical, hands-on learning with theory-based study to build strong understanding and real-world application. You will have access to the college’s well-resourced engineering workshops, specialist laboratories, and automated manufacturing systems. Teaching is delivered by experienced, highly qualified lecturers whose expertise has been developed through extensive work within the engineering sector.
Entry Requirements
Progressing students: relevant SCQF Level 5 NC/NQ course in an engineering discipline. Selection is based on previous course outcomes and personal statements.
Four National 5 passes at C grade or above in Maths (not Application of Maths) and preferably English, Physics and an Engineering Technology subject.
Applicants who do not meet the criteria but have relevant work/industry experience will be required to complete an Engineering aptitude test on campus.
Method of Assessment
A mixture of closed book individual assessments, reports, practical work (both individual and group) as appropriate to the module.
Future Prospects
Progression onto HNC Engineering Systems or employment opportunities in the engineering/renewable/energy industries.
