Course Content
The course is structured to align with the wide-ranging demands of the engineering industry. This HNC develops your practical knowledge of advanced mechanical and electrical systems, with hands-on experience using design, modelling, and simulation software. You will study a range of specialist units, such as Practical Workshop Skills, Computer-Aided Design, and Materials Selection.
These subjects are delivered at an advanced level, helping you build strong transferable skills that are vital for progression and long-term success in an engineering career.
Entry Requirements
Progressing students: relevant SCQF Level 6 NC/NQ course in an engineering discipline. Selection is based on previous course outcomes and personal statements.
Qualifications required are relevant NC/NQ courses in an engineering discipline at Level 6 or two Highers (or equivalent) at grade C or above from English, Mathematics (not Applications of Maths) and Physics.
Applicants who do not meet the criteria but have relevant work/industry experience will be required to complete an Engineering aptitude test on campus.
Method of Assessment
A mixture of closed book individual assessments, reports, practical work (both individual and group) as appropriate to the module and graded unit.
Future Prospects
Progression onto a higher-level engineering-specific course up to degree level.
